Newspaper ad leads to MNS Gen Secy's arrest

MNS had published an advertisement in local dailies on Feb 23 appealing local Marathi youths to enroll their names with the party.

State General Secretary of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Vasant Gite and the MNS city Chief Nitin Bhosale along with ten others were arrested on Tuesday, in connection with an advertisement put out by the party in newspapers in Nashik, police said.

All the 12 MNS leaders have been arrested under Sections 153 (a) (b) of IPC, police added.

MNS had published an advertisement in local dailies on February 23 appealing local Marathi youths or skilled workers to enroll their names with the party.

The advertisement said that as per the party's discussion with the local industrial houses, the latter had agreed to recruit Marathi youths.

The ten MNS activists are Atul Chandak, Devkisan Parikh, Suhas Kande, Adv Ratan Ithame, Samir Shetye, Anil Wagh, Sachi Thakare, Mohan More, Sanjay Gaikwad, and Pradeep Vazare.

Recently, Nashik witnessed an exodus of workers after they were threatened allegedly by the MNS activists following their party's campaign against north Indian migrants.
