RJD president Lalu Prasad on Sunday hit out at the NDA government in Bihar for allegedly failing to check the "sliding law and order situation" in the state.
"With its promise of making Bihar crime-free in three months falling flat, the Nitish Kumar government is trying to cover its failure by overdose of promises. The NDA government has proved a complete failure on law and order front," Prasad said.
He was talking to reporters after meeting relatives of the six members of an extremely backward caste family, who were burnt alive early today in Rampur-Shyamchand village, which falls in the assembly constituency of Rabri Devi.
The RJD chief dismissed the incident being an outcome of caste rivalry. "The incident has nothing to do with caste rivalry. It reflects a complete failure of law and order under the present government," he said adding murderers do not have any caste.
Prasad said the villagers said that despite repeated complaints by the victims, the officer-in-charge of the Raghopur police station did not pay any heed to the matter.
Prasad's wife and leader of the opposition Rabri Devi, RJD MP from Patna Ramkripal Yadav and party spokesman Shivanand Tiwari accompanied Prasad to Raghopur.
Prasad's visit to the village came barely a few hours after that of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
