The poll boycott call given by the naxalites in south-eastern part of Vidarbha failed to make any effect, according to preliminary reports reaching here today.

The naxals had given a call to boycott the voting in naxal-infested areas which covers three Lok Sabha constituencies of Chandrapur, Chimur and Bhandara.

Chandrapur seat has two districts of Chandrapur itself and Gadchiroli but the boycott call failed to make any impact.

"I don't see any effect of naxals boycott call. People by and large are excercising their franchise", Gadchiroli superintendent of police, Rajvardhan told PTI.

Rajvardhan denied reports in a section of press that two jeeps were set ablaze by naxals today saying: "There is no truth in the reports."
