No fire station at IMT yet, officials play blame-game
Repeated requests by residents, including a fast unto death by an office-bearer of the industry association last year, for a fire station in the Industrial Model Township (IMT), Manesar, has failed to reap any positive results.

More than a decade after the township, spread over 3,500 acre and housing nearly 2,000 industrial plots, came into being, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) and the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) are still passing the buck over the issue.
Though the MCG issues the No-objection Certificate (NOC) to plot owners, it has shrugged off its responsibility to build a fire station at the IMT.
"Manesar doesn't fall under our jurisdiction. It is for the township promoter to create infrastructure for the fire station," MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal told Hindustan Times on Monday.
Asked why it had issued an NOC for IMT, he said, "Since Manesar is a part of Gurgaon district, we do it." Rajpal, however, agreed to take up the issue with the state government.
On the other hand, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation officials have been maintaining that they have already allotted space for a fire station and it is for the fire department to build the infrastructure.
"IMT Manesar is a high-risk zone for industrial accident and fire. I fail to understand why the subsequent governments have pushed the matter under the carpet," said Manoj Tyagi, general secretary, IMT Industrial Association.
