The administration on Friday had asked the owners of multiplexes not to run the movie citing safety concerns. According to sources, the Haryana government had received a threat from a panchayat forcing the administration to take the step.
Anant Verma, operations head of DT Cinemas, said that Gurgaon deputy commissioner PC Meena called a meeting of all cineplexes’ operators on Sunday morning and informed them about the Haryana government’s decision to allow screening of Aarakshan in Gurgaon.
“We resumed the shows in the afternoon. Meena told us that some of the objectionable scenes from the movie should be cut off. Incidentally, the movie tapes that we received had these scenes cut in advance,” Verma added.
“All shows on weekends are usually booked full. In fact this movie has been running successfully in the state,” said Rahul Singh, senior vice-president (operations), PVR.
