No review of quota policy: Chidambaram

“There’s no ground to review whether there should be reservations or not… If a review means questioning the justification of reservations, I say no,” Finance Minister P. Chidambaram told Karan Thapar in the programme Devil’s Advocate — to be telecast on CNN-IBN on Sunday night.

His response was to queries that minister-without-portfolio Oscar Fernandes had given a written assurance to protesting medicos that their demand for a non-political commission to review of the reservation policy would be “examined”.

Chidambaram said he had not seen the “document” and did not know what Fernandes meant.
