Gas agencies had been directed to ensure delivery of the cylinder within a week's time of its booking, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Diwakar Bhatt told reporters in Dehra Dun.

The government had also decided to launch a door-to-door campaign to check whether consumers were sticking to the one- kitchen-one-connection norm, he said.

"This will help us to ascertain the number of authorised gas connections in the state," Bhatt said after holding a meeting with officials of oil companies.

Unauthorised connections were responsible for artificial scarcity of LPG in the state, the Minister said.
