Normal life was paralysed in Tripura on Wednesday in the day-long strike called by the seven trade unions including CITU, CPI-M's workers' union.

Vehicles did not ply on the roads, shutters of shops were down, markets and financial institutions.
Official sources said, no attendence was recorded in the government offices, banks, public sector undertakings like ONGC, GAIL India Ltd.
Schools, colleges and other educational institutions were closed.
Police said, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the state so far.
The strike was called to press for seven-point charter of demands including checking price rise, scrapping Indo-US Nuclear deal and strengthening of Public Distribution System (PDS).
