Popstar Pink is the latest celebrity to voice her support for actor Mel Gibson, insisting he should be forgiven for making anti-Semitic remarks.
Gibson, 50, was taken into custody on July 28 on California's Pacific Coast Highway for driving his 2006 Lexus LS at more than 137 kph, with an open bottle of tequila. His subsequent drunken tirade, laced with anti-Semitic comments, made headlines around the world.
He later apologised to the Jewish community and requested a meeting with the religious leaders.
The Stupid Girl singer said that Gibson, needs help and that alcohol caused him to say the nasty things.
"I'm a fan of his work. I think anybody with opinions like that needs well-wishing. And I'm Jewish. Alcohol makes you do crazy things," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
Gibson was sentenced to three years' probation and ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings for three months after pleading guilty to the misdemeanor drunk driving charge.
