NSCN leaders to arrive in Delhi on Dec 5

The leaders are determined to take forward ongoing talks aimed at ending over five decades of insurgency in Nagaland.

The two top leaders of NSCN (IM) will reach New Delhi on Sunday determined to take forward ongoing talks aimed at ending over five decades of insurgency in Nagaland.

Setting aside their earlier hesitation, National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) leaders Isak Chishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah have decided to visit New Delhi at the invitation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The two have been operating out of Southeast Asian cities for 37 years.

"They will hold talks with Indian authorities in Delhi. Later they will come to Nagaland to celebrate Christmas with the people here," NSCN spokesman Kraibo Chawang said in this commercial hub of Nagaland.

"We are very optimistic that the talks this time will move forward and take a definite shape before we can clinch a deal with the government," he added.

The two leaders were to arrive in New Delhi on Nov 28, but their visit was mired in controversy and postponed.
