NSUI holds protests against Bhoj varsity

ALLEGING LARGE-SCALE corruption by the MP Bhoj Open University authorities, the local unit of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) staged a demonstration at the university office at Govindpura on Thursday.

The NSUI State general secretary Monu Saxena has said they will bring the fact to the chancellor Dr Balram Jakhar’s notice and demand removal of the university Vice-Chancellor Dr Kamlakar Singh. The NSUI has warned that if the corruption was not checked, it will launch a statewide agitation.

The NSUI has alleged that the Vice-Chancellor is involved in corruption related to construction work, purchase of material, and appointments and deputations. They have alleged corruption in construction of university building at Kolar Road worth Rs 35 crore, repair work and in purchase of material at the university’s guesthouse near Kaliasot Dam without floating any tenders.

Allegations related to irregularity in construction work worth lakhs at the rented building at Govindpura have also been levelled. Moreover, at least 40 appointments were made directly by the Vice-Chancellor, the NSUI has alleged.
