Office of profit: Dasmunsi meets Sharad Yadav

As part of Government's exercise to evolve a consensus on the issue of office of profit, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi on Sunday met JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav and exchanged views on the issue.

During the 30-minute meeting, Dasmunsi sought the opinion of Yadav on a comprehensive bill on the issue and discussed the reconvening of the budget session, which was abruptly adjourned sine die last week.

Yadav, who is Chairman of JD(U) Parliamentary Board, said he was of the firm opinion that the matter should be resolved soon by amending the law. On the issue of reconvening of the House, Yadav said he assured Dasmunsi his party would support whenever the Government comes up with the proposal.

Government had on Saturday set in motion an exercise to evolve a consensus on the issue of office of profit by initiating a dialogue with opposition on a possible legislation.
