One more CRPF jawan succumbs to heatstroke

With the death of one more jawan during treatment today, the death toll of CRPF personnel due to heatstroke rose to four, police said.

With the death of one more jawan during treatment on Wednesday, the death toll of CRPF personnel due to heatstroke rose to four, police said.

Ruldu Khan, who was rushed to J A hospital and put on a ventilator after he suffered heatstroke on May 24, has died, police said.

He was among 21 personnel who were rushed to the hospital after suffering heatstroke during training at the para-military force's training centre in Nayagaon area near here.

Three CRPF personnel Dinesh Chandra Khotari, S N Yadav and K Vinayakam had died in the hospital on May 24, police said.

Twelve jawans have been discharged, whereas six jawans are still undergoing treatment, hospital sources said.

Most of the victims had come from Jammu and Kashmir and could not withstand the scorching heat, they said.

Heat wave condition are prevailing in the region and the mercury hovered over 46 degree celsius on that day when the CRPF jawans fell victim.

A day after the jawans fell ill, CRPF authorities cancelled their training course.
