Order to lodge FIR against DDU official

The order to lodge FIR was passed in connection with a scuffle between the head of department of journalism Prof RD Rai and finance officer SP Singh on February 24 at the university guesthouse.

In the aftermath of the incident, Prof Rai submitted an application, saying that Dr Ramesh Kumar Tripathi, a lecturer of the university, was taking class in the journalism department on February 24 at 10.30 am when the finance officer SP Singh, with police post in-charge A P Singh and six others, entered the classroom and inquired about a student, Sandeep.

Rai said that when he had reached the hall, the police post in-charge and others manhandled Sandeep in the classroom and damaged the furniture. When he tried to intervene, the finance officer manhandled him, too.

He said that after the medical test, an application was handed over the Cantonment police to lodge an FIR but the police did not take any action.
