The UP Yuvak Congress held a meeting to discuss preparations for the Sonia Gandhi’s rally here on August 8.
Dr Shailendra Dixit, general secretary of the UP Yuvak Congress, urged party activists to ensure the success of the Nav Nirman rally. Dr Dixit said to spread the message about the rally, more than 100 hoardings had been put up at crossings in Phoolbagh, Panki, Sisamau and Kalyanpur areas. The Yuvak Congress would also organise padyatras till Augut 7.
Members of the Sadbhavana Ke Sipahi Uttar Pradesh organized a padyatra today to mobilise support for the August 8 rally to be addressed by party chief Sonia Gandhi.
The padyatra was started from the Gurunanak School Narayan Purwa and passed through Lajpat Nagar, Laxmi Ratan Colony, Kamla Nagar, Railway line areas and culminated in Shivaji Nagar.
The rally was lead by Sardar Kuldip Singh former MLA.
The Indian National Trade Union Congress Kanpur also organised a meeting to ensure the participation of large number of workers in the rally.
Speaking to newsmen, Ashok Singh INTUC vice-president claimed to ensure the participation of at least 25 thousand workers in Sonia Gandhi’s upcoming rally.
He further said that in the rally they would discuss ways to end the lockout of closed mills in Kanpur.
The meeting was presided over by Pradeep Saraswat.
The District Congress Committee (Dehat) will organise a rally at Sikandra, Kanpur Dehat on Friday to mobilise support for Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s rally at Phoolbagh on August 8.
National general secretary of the Congress Ashok Gehlot, State Congress President Salman Khurshid and Union Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal would address the rally.
PCC member Jitendra Singh Khushwaha said that Friday’s rally would set the ground for Sonia Gandhi’s rally.
“All efforts will be made to ensure maximum participation for Sonia’s rally from Kanpur Dehat,” Khushwaha said.
Sonia’s rally would change the political scenario of the State and in the coming Vidhan Sabha elections, party would perform better, Khushwaha added.
