"Pak troops fired at forward posts in the Hamirpur area. The firing started at 11pm on Saturday and continued till 2am on Sunday. There was no loss of life on the Indian side," said defence spokesman Capt SN Acharya.

The defence spokesperson added that Pakistan fired with small and automatic weapons. The army also retaliated with matching calibre weapons, he added. There have been about 100 instances of ceasefire violations this year.

Many people living close to the LOC in Poonch and Rajouri districts are reported to have shifted families to safer locations because of the increasing firing incidents.
