Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf congratulated the team for winning the Test series against the touring West Indies and backed Pakistan to win the World Cup provided it showed super fitness, good fielding and discipline.

"I back the Pakistan team to win the World Cup but to achieve that feat, it will have to show super fitness, good fielding, discipline and team spirit", Musharraf said while interacting with the team at a reception held here on Monday.

"I congratulate the whole Pakistan team for winning the Test series against the touring West Indies", he said.

"Mohammad Yousuf stands out with his performance in this series and the nation is proud of him".

Yousuf broke the world records for most runs and most centuries in a calendar year during the three-Test series against West Indies, which Pakistan won 2-0.

"Now the whole nation looks forward to winning the World Cup but qualities of super fitness and discipline will be essential to achieve that goal", he said.

The Pakistan President, who is also the Patron-in-Chief of his country's cricket board PCB, eulogised the individual performances during the Test series with Yousuf outshining all the others in this behalf.

"Besides Yousuf, I think fast bowler Umar Gul and some others like Abdur Razzaq and wicketkeeper Kamran Ashraf played very well", he said while speaking to the Pakistan team members.
