Agitated residents went on the rampage, pelting stones at the branch office of the bank and demanded that the guard be handed over to the public. Police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the mob and control the situation.

Local residents claimed that the bank guard opened fire at Reti crossing resulting in serious injuries to the rickshaw puller who was rushed to the district hospital where his condition was reported to be critical. The incident of firing had taken place after the rickshaw hit the bank van on a crowded road.

Despite the residents demanding arrest of the bank guard, no FIR was lodged. Later, police force was deployed to avert any untoward incident.

However, the bank employees said that the guard opened fire apprehending that someone was trying to break open the lock of the van transporting cash.
