No date or time has yet been communicated when the ministry formation would take place.

For Panneerselvam this would be the second time as chief minister in the state, as he had earlier in 2001 filled in for Jayalalithaa who at that time was disqualified by the Supreme Court after her conviction in another corruption case.

Jayalalithaa fought a legal battle to get the conviction reversed and returned to office in 2002.
