EVEN AS the UP and Madhya Pradesh police claim to have tightened the noose around dreaded dacoit Jagjeevan Parihar, the real picture tells a different story.
EVEN AS the UP and Madhya Pradesh police claim to have tightened the noose around dreaded dacoit Jagjeevan Parihar, the real picture tells a different story.

Inputs gathered by the teams associated with field operations suggest the dacoit leader isn’t feeling the heat at all. Instead he has developed a good network of informers and also inducted several new members and advanced weapons. The gang is at present operating from Bhind in Madhya Pradesh and the UP police have failed to nab the dacoits due to non-cooperation from of the MP police.
Even, the STF and the SOG also find it difficult to nab the gang members in the absence of informers in Bhind and other districts of MP bordering Uttar Pradesh and people’s support to the dacoit in that area.
It may be recalled here that Parihar wreaked havoc in three villages under the Bithauli police station on March 14 killing three persons in Chaurela village and kidnapping three others.
Meanwhile, the UP police confirmed that one of the hostages, Mauji Ram Pal was released by the dacoits on April 1 and he had been reportedly living in fear in Bhind and is not willing to return to his native village Mardanpur.
Sources said there were 20 members in the Parihar group and all were equipped with advanced weapons like AK-47, carbine, .315 bore rifles and other weapons. There was no female member in the group and it had been hiding between Umari and Phoof police stations in Bhind. They changed their hideouts from time to time, the sources said.
Ironically, the UP police despite knowing all this are finding it difficult to get the dacoit. Reason: The MP police are not cooperating them and the dacoit enjoys the support of influential Thakur community in that area. Sources said due to increasing base of Parihar, it would be difficult for the UP police to nab him.
Sources said combing parties were not getting any result from operations They said the dacoit could have been arrested if the Bhind police provided them good support.
Meanwhile, talking to HT SP Etawah Ashok Jain said, “It’s true that one of the captives was released on some promises made by him.” However, the SP refused to comment over non-cooperation from the Bhind police in connection with Jajgeevan’s arrest.
