The Bill had been passed by the Lok Sabha last week, but was returned by the Rajya Sabha after a debate.

Winding up discussions, Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav assured agitated Left MPs from West Bengal that necessary steps would be taken to establish linkage of Kolkata with the East-West freight corridor announced in the Rail Budget.

He said no region would be neglected and he would personally look into demands made by various members for additional trains, gauge conversion and new lines.
