The CBI had failed to find any evidence against the prime accused in the Bofors payoff case and a request for defreezing of accounts was therefore sent to London.

Advocate Ajay Agarwal moved the PIL for seeking permission letter for the defreezing the accounts and himself carried it to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Maintaining that the CBI had stated on December 20 last year that all efforts were being made to bring Quattrocchi to stand trial in the case, he sought a direction for the agency to produce entire documents and evidence against him.

Besides, the advocate has also named Law Minister H R Bhardwaj as a respondent questioning that how he was giving statements to the media that there was no evidence against Quattrocchi even when a Interpol Red Corner notice was still valid.
