MP HIGH Court here today dismissed the PIL alleging that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan among half –a- dozen of MPs and former MPs have opened accounts for depositing MP Local Area Development Fund Scheme (MPLADS) funds in a Raisen post office with malafide intentions instead of nationalised banks.

While dismissing the PIL filed by Ram Prasad Joshi, a member of Janpad Panchayat, Lanji (Balaghat), a division bench comprising Chief Justice A. K. Patnaik and Justice Dipak Misra observed that it is open for the petitioner to file petition again in future with sufficient documents in support of his allegations.

The bench said the petitioner has not filed enough documents as evidence to support the claims in the petition. Former and sitting MPs including CM Chouhan, Union Minister of State Suresh Pachauri, former CM Sunderlal Patwa, Kailash Sarang, Mabel Rebello, Prafull Kumar Maheshwari and Sartaj Singh opened saving account in post office at Raisen to deposit MPLADS funds on June 7 and 10, 2003.

Similarly, BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste opened saving account in post office at Mandla on March 26, 2003, it further said. The post offices had issued chequebooks to the MPs on these accounts, the PIL said.

The MPLADS guidelines on scheme concept, implementation and monitoring passed by Parliament on December 23, 1993 say the funds released under the schemes to the MPs should be deposited in nationalised banks.
