PM briefs President on visit to France, UN

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday met President APJ Abdul Kalam and briefed him about his visit beginning on Sunday to France and New York to attend the UN millennium summit.

In the meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan that lasted half an hour, Manmohan Singh also told the President about his meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The Prime Minister is expected to meet US President George W Bush, Chinese President Hu Jintao and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf among others for in New York.

The bilateral summit between Manmohan Singh and British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the India-EU summit this week also figured in the discussions, a statement from the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
