Poachers? gang busted, 2 tiger skins recovered

THE CITY police busted an inter-state gang of poachers and arrested two of its members from Ramnagar area on Sunday evening. The police also recovered full skins of two tigers from them. They had come to the area to sell the skins at Rs 1 lakh each to customers. The arrested poachers have been identified as Sushen of Manda in Allahabad and Prakash Bhuja of Mirzapur.

The police also recovered full skins of two tigers from them. They had come to the area to sell the skins at Rs 1 lakh each to customers.

The arrested poachers have been identified as Sushen of Manda in Allahabad and Prakash Bhuja of Mirzapur.

During interrogation, they told the police that they were working illegally for an inter- state gang of poachers dealing in skins of wild animals.

According to information, the cops of Ramnagar police station area were checking vehicles and suspected persons at Tengra crossing in the evening, when they spotted two suspicious looking persons on a cycle carrying a big bag.

When the policemen tried to stop them, they threw the cycle and the bag on the road and tried to escape. But after a short chase, the cops nabbed them and found full skins of two tigers.

The skins recovered have been handed over by the police to the district wildlife officials.

It may be noted that last month the Bhelupur police had arrested two poachers of Mirzapur from Mehmoorganj area and had recovered tiger skins.
