Anil Kumar, in charge of Jurvanpur Police Station and Sudhir Kumar, son of a policeman, were shot at by former mukhiya of Juravanpur Barari Panchayat Sri Kant Rai following a heated exchange over a property dispute last night, superintendent of police Suresh Prasad Chaudhury said.

Both the injured died on their way to Patna Medical College and Hospital in the state capital, he said.

The bodies were brought to the police lines on Thursday morning and a guard of honour was given to the departed officer, the SP said, adding arrangements were being made to transport the body of Anil Kumar to his native village in Madhubani district.
