The CPI on Thursday asked Congress to do serious introspection over its defeat in three states, saying it was caused by the policy of soft Hindutva it followed before and during the elections.

The party's national secretary D Raja said the Congress made the mistake of giving up its ideology and played soft Hindutva which resulted in the party losing the battle even before it had begun.
