The case in short is: Even as public places were deserted, a new breed of political activists took over the roads and brought in five cartons of beer to take a bath in full public view at Manersharif and on the national highway-30.

The activists claimed, they were jubilant over the success of the 13-party bandh to protest spiralling prices. The supporters, claiming alegiance to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator, Srikant Nirala then had a feast of Maneri Laddoo's, which they gulped with the beer. They then claimed, it had helped them beat the hot weather. The road-show, lasted an hour.

Though most shops were closed in Maner, beer shops run by local political activists and laddoo shops were open, police said.

He alleged Nirala, who was in the limelight for his public show wkth bar girls had "lost all sense of propriety".

Soon after the receipt of a complaint for public nuisance, SSP Amit Kumar Jain ordered an FIR lodged against the concerned persons. Maner station house officer, Awadhesh Kumar nabbed five of the named persons, while one evaded arrest.

A livid State President of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Abdul Bari Siddiqui condemned the incident and later served a show cause notice on Nirala.

"We will get to the bottom of this. If this has happened, it is 'indecent' to say the least", he added.
