Pope's biography in Malayalam released

The biography of the Pope - the first such work in India by a journalist - was released in Kochi.

A biography of Pope Benedict XVI authored by journalist Ignatius Gonsalves was released here, ahead of the first anniversary of his papacy.

The biography, titled Benedict the Sixteenth is in Malayalam language and aims to be an authentic, complete, yet simple study of the renowned theologian and philosopher, its publishers Pranatha Books said yesterday.

Pope Benedict XVI was installed on April 24 last year.

The first copy of the book was handed over to Mar Sebastian Adayanthrath, Auxiliary Bishop of the Syro-Malabar Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamali, at a function here.

Noted spiritual leader and social worker Swami Agnivesh has written a foreword to the biography, which has 24 chapters, 272 pages and is priced at Rs 150.
