According to sources, "Employees falling under the category of Group C which include clerks, postal assistants, sub post masters, assistant post masters and deputy post masters have not received the overtime dues for the past 14 months."
Likewise, overtime payment of Group D workers like packers and mail peons has also not been made so far, added sources.
"Whenever the payment for the overtime is asked for, mostly the reply which we get is that there is lack of funds due to which overtime pay is not being paid", said one of the employees.
Besides, there is also a provision under which those employees whose basic pay exceeds Rs 6,800 will not be paid any money for overtime work, added sources.
In this regard, a meeting of union would soon be held, to discuss the proposal to shun the overtime, said divisional secretary of All India Postal Employees Union Group C, Ram Sajeevan Shukla.
However, when contacted Post Master General Ashutosh Tripathi refused to comment on the issue saying, "I am busy right now."
