On Thursday, three more officials were attached by the Noida authority. The authority attached three project engineers -- Sandeep Chandra (in-charge of Metro projects), Vedpal (head of health and sanitation department) and SK Gupta, who looked after electrical and maintenance works. Most of the attached officials are believed to have leanings towards the previous Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government.

“The word ‘attachment’ is used to imply that the officer is attached with the chief executive officer’s office. But that doesn’t happen in practice. Attachment relieves one of his charges and he stays at home, gets full salary and does nothing. He is neither suspended nor dismissed,” revealed a senior official.

“The basic idea is to debar some officials from public dealings,” he said.

Chief executive officer Sanjeev Saran on Thursday also ordered to seize the office of former chief maintenance engineer Yadav Singh, considered close to BSP. The police also reportedly seized files related to plot allotments done by the group housing department and the CME office.

Despite repeated attempts, the CEO could not be contacted for comments on the matter
