Pune Police to interact with ATS in 11/7 case

The police team from Pune will soon liaison with Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Mumbai in connection with the interrogation of Suhail Mehboob Shaikh, who was arrested from Pune in the serial blasts case.

In the wake of claims by Suhail that the terrorists had planned to create disturbances during the 10-day Ganesh Festivals in Pune, the city police would interact with ATS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), RS Khaire said.

Police was also monitoring the activities of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) activists in Pune, he added.

Since Wednesday police have also begun meetings with the representatives of nearly 1000 Ganesh Mandals in the city and were asking people to be vigilant during the festival.

Meanwhile, the ATS had detained Bangali on Tuesday from his residence at Kondhwa here and has taken him to Mumbai for interrogation, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Special Branch) SN Bumkar said.
