On Saturday, the Sassoon Hospital had one fresh case of confirmed swine flu — a school teacher — besides two suspected cases.

“The other two are under observation,” said dean of Sassoon Hospital, Arun Jamkar.

At Naidu Hospital, five people tested positive on Saturday, said Dr R.R. Pardeshi, head of the Pune civic body’s health department, taking the total cases at the hospital to 117.

Sehwan Aziz (21), a foreigner suspected to have contracted the virus, was missing from Sassoon Hospital. “He left the hospital late on Friday, and did not return,” said the hospital’s medical superintendent.

A pregnant woman admitted to Ruby Hall Clinic with swine flu-like symptoms, was forced to get a discharge, her husband alleged.

However, Ruby Hall Clinic’s Deputy Health Director, Ravindra Katti, said the patient had been advised to shift to the Sassoon Hospital where she could get all possible treatment.

The condition of the three patients at Sassoon Hospital — a pharmacist, a doctor and a six-year-old girl — was stable on Saturday, a day after they were in a critical state.

Marathwada saw its first swine flu case after a 24-year-old from Osmanabad, studying in Pune, tested positive.
