State vice president DP Khosla and state general secretary Gurdyal Chand joined the BJP in the presence of Rajinder Bhandari, the state general secretary of the BJP.

"With the joining of two BSP leaders, BJP has emerged more stronger in the Doaba region of the state," Bhandari told reporters in Jalandhar.

Attacking the Congress, Bhandari said, "The way the Congress has denied tickets to its three sitting MPs and shifted the constituency of one candidate, it seems it has already accepted defeat."
