Namdhari is an accused in the shootout case on November 17 in which liquor baron Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep were killed.

Principal secretary home DS Bains has been asked to conduct the inquiry and submit the report in 15 days, a spokesman here said.

Sukhbir Badal also directed the principal secretary home to suggest "concrete measures" to check the reoccurrence of such lapses on part of the state administration.

Namdhari had procured his arms licence from Ropar and Punjab police reportedly also conducted his verification for the passport issued to him.
