Rahul reaches Raipur, proceeds straight to meet the injured

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi landed at Chhattisgarh capital Raipur at around 1.15am by special aircraft and has proceeded straight to a private nursing home to meet the injured Congressmen who were air-lifted from Jagdalpur by a chopper. Ejaz Kaiser reports.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi landed at Chhattisgarh capital Raipur at around 1.15am by special aircraft and has proceeded straight to a private nursing home to meet the injured Congressmen who were air-lifted from Jagdalpur by a chopper.

Six seriously injured in the worst Maoist attack on Saturday have been admitted in Ram Krishna Care hospital for immediate medical attention.

Critically injured veteran Congress leader Vidya Charan Shukla was also brought to Raipur but he is yet to reach the hospital.

Sources informed that owing to his “deteriorating condition” he might be shifted to Delhi soon by an air-ambulance. Shukla was hit by three bullets. Congress leaders and workers along with the relatives of the injured were present at the hospital.

Chief minister Raman Singh called an urgent meeting of his cabinet ministers to take stock of the situation. The state government has strongly condemned the Naxal attack and decided for a judicial probe into the incident.

On Saturday evening as many 17 people including two senior Congress leaders were killed in one of the worst Maoist attack at Darbha in Jagdalpur, about 350 km from Raipur.
