Rajasthan-based NGO, Barefoot College, has won the Alcan Prize for sustainability, carrying one million US dollars, for its rural skill-development initiatives.

Barefoot College in Tilonia was selected from among 200 entries from 55 countries, a release from Alcan Inc said in Chennai on Monday.
The NGO had been imparting among rural population, practical skill-development techniques based on tapping of natural resources to help manage sustainable communities, the release added.
Alcan, a US-based leading global materials company, had instituted the prize in January 2004 to support non-profit organisations, the release said.
