Rajasthan to decide the fate of three Union ministers
Three Union minsters — Subhash Meharia Kailash Meghwal and Jas Kaur Meena — test their luck in Wednesday's poll from Rajasthan.
Over 3.47 crore voters in Rajasthan would decide the fate of 185 candidates, including three Union ministers and a Bollywood star, in the parliamentary elections on Wednesday for 25 seats in the desert state.
While Union minister Subhash Meharia is pitted in Sikar against state Congress chief Narayan Singh, his collegaue Kailash Meghwal is facing a former bureaucrat and Congress nominee NK Bairwa from Tonk constituency.
Another Union minister Jas Kaur Meena is being challenged by a former IPS official Namo Narayan Meena who resigned as a member of state human rights commission to contest the poll on Congress ticket.
Bollywood star Dharmendra is trying to wrest Bikaner seat from Congress as BJP candidate in the Wednesday's polls.
As many as 20 members of the dissolved Lok Sabha -- 13 of BJP and seven of Congress -- are trying their luck again at the husting.
Seven siting members of the state assembly -- three of Congress, and one each of BJP, CPM, JD(U) and Lok Janshakti Party -- are in the fray.
Among prominant contestents in the fray are former Lok Sabha speaker Balram Jakhar pitted against Ram Singh Kaswan of BJP from Churu, former Union minister Buta Singh facing Sushila, wife of former BJP president Bangaru Laxman from Jalore, former Union minister and PCC chief Girija Vyas contesting against Kiran Maheshwari of BJP.
