The opening of Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on March 23, 2001 was an historic event in Sri Lankan cricket. The new Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium was built in 155 days, on a World Heritage listed area in the middle of a jungle.
Two Australian firms played a key role in the development of this reclaimed stadium, BHP and Sinclair Knight Merz (SKM).
