Rape victim cast vote

The dalit woman who was raped and acid thrown on her and who was admitted in local civil hospital since May 8 was allowed to cast her vote in her native village Ghalkalan.

At the intervention of Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission member Dalip Singh Pandhi- victim dalit woman was taken by police party from the hospital to Ghalkalan and after exercising vote there she was again taken back to hospital. Pandhi said that the victim approached the commission last night for casting her vote and accordingly the Commission intervened and asked the local Civil Hospial authorities to make arrangements for her to cast her vote.

The Commission will bear the expenses, Pandhi said.
