Rapist gets 10-year jail in Kurukshetra

Additional district and sessions judge, Kurukshetra, MM Dhonchak has sentenced a migrant worker to 10 years in jail for raping a minor girl.

In a judgment pronounced on Friday, the court held the convict, Arun Raut, guilty of kidnapping, rape, procuring women for immoral purposes and criminal intimidation, and imposed a fine of Rs 80,000. In case Raut is unable to pay the fine, he will undergo additional jail term of nine months.

On December 24, 2011, the victim's father had alleged in a complaint that the convict had kidnapped his minor daughter. It was alleged that Raut had induced the victim to marry him.

Later, the police rescued the girl from Raut's house in Sitamarhi district of Bihar and arrested him from the spot.
