Talking to the HT, Dr Tyagi said the government has sounded a red alert in the State following fresh polio cases in different parts of UP. “The State Health Directorate is taking the pulse polio drive very seriously. Any laxity during the drive will not be tolerated,” he said.

Dr Tyagi said with the reporting of fresh polio case in Varanasi, Allahabad has also become very sensitive over the issue. Suspected polio cases were also identified in Fatehpur and Santravidas Nagar.

“With the spotting of suspected cases it was decided to closely monitor the drive in polio sensitive districts, including Allahabad. A senior officer has been posted in every division to ensure that the targeted children were administered polio drops,” Dr Tyagi added.

Dr Tyagi accepted that there were many irregularities in the polio drives, conducted in the past.

“But I will try that the forthcoming drive is managed successfully in the district. All the minor details of the drive will be checked so that there is no loophole in the drive,” he said.
