Following up the Supreme Court's order to maintain status quo on the London bank accounts of Bofors case accused and Italian businessman Ottavio Quattrocchi in London, the CBI is understood to have asked British Crown Prosecution Service to refreeze the accounts.

The CBI had already conveyed the apex court's order on Monday last through an email to the CPS and later sent a copy of the order asking for maintaining the status quo on the accounts, CBI sources said.

The sources said the CPS had been asked by CBI to "take appropriate action" following the apex court directive.

The Supreme Court had on January 16 directed the government and CBI to ensure that Quattrocchi did not withdraw from the accounts the money and also ordered steps be taken for maintaining status quo on his accounts.
