Republic Day celebrated with fervour
VARIOUS CULTURAL and colourful programmes were organised to celebrate the 57th Republic Day in the city on Thursday. The Tricolour was hoisted at government offices and educational institutions. State Minister Jaiprakash Yadav took the salute at the parade at police lines and awarded police officials including a circle officer, for dedication and performance while maintaining law and order. Different wings of the police administration participated in the parade.

Different wings of the police administration participated in the parade. Marching groups of NCC youths, PAC jawans, and Fire Brigade employees were the point of attraction for the people at the stadium.
Paying tribute to the freedom fighters Yadav called upon people to maintain the democratic and secular spirit of the Constitution and expressed hope that deeply rooted spirit of co-existence in our society was the soul of unity and diversity.
DIG BB Bakshi administered oath to the police personnel to be responsible for their duty and to be sensitive towards the grievances of the people.
Division commissioner Arvind Kumar hoisted the Tricolour while district magistrate Hariom himself recited the National Anthem at the collectorate and welcomed the freedom fighters.
Air Marshal JS Gujaral VM VSM Air Officer Commanding in chief Central Air Command Base was awarded with Param Vishisht Sewa Medal, the highest peace time award for distinguished service. Air Marshal is among the recipients of Vayu Sena Medal, Vishisht Sena Medal. He was commissioned as a Fighter Pilot in the IAF on December 31, 1967 and 4000 hours accident free fling goes to his credit.
Vice-chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Prof Arun Kumar, hoisted the flag at thr administrative block of the university while general manager NE Railway, SK Vij, took the salute at Syed Modi Railway Stadium.
He said Railway had played a vital role in progress of the country and NE Railway which is passenger based division, had gain the confidence of the passengers.
