The Vigilance cell headed by SP Ashok Kumar is likely to record the statement of Jaimala herself in Bangalore, TDB sources said. The Vigilance had been asked to find out whether there was any prima facie evidence to support the actress' claim.

As part of the investigation, the priests and temple officials who were working at the shrine in 1987 when Jaimala visited the temple, would also be questioned.

TDB president G Raman Nair said that the Board would take a decision on recommending a judicial or Crime Branch probe into the incident at its meeting on July 7, taking into account the findings of the preliminary probe.

The state government had offered all assistance in conducting the probe, Nair said.
