Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has called for the case diary and summoned investigating officer at the next date after hearing brief arguments from government advocate Ganesh Singh Chauhan and Akela’s counsel Jai Singh on Friday. The bench of Justice SS Dwivedi is expected to question the investigating officer about the statements given by witnesses to investigating agency.

The prosecution in the much publicised professor Sabharawal murder case has suffered a major setback with two main witnesses turning hostile at Ujjain district court last Monday. The next date for hearing at Ujjain is February 19.

The police had registered case under Section 302 of the IPC against unnamed accused but after severe criticism, the State Government handed over the matter to the CID. The CID made six ABVP activists including its then state president Shashi Ranjan Akela, Vimal Tomar, Vishal Rajoria, Pankaj Mishra, Hemant Dubey and Sudhir Yadav as accused in the case. All the accused are under judicial custody right from their day of arrest.
