India's hopes to make it to final of Hopman Cup received a jolt when Sania Mirza lost to world number 27 Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-3, 1-6, 3-6 in the women's singles match of the Group B tie against Spain in Perth on Friday.

Sania had an impressive start to the match as she bagged the first set quite comfortably. But the Spaniard fought back to win the next two to give her country 1-0 lead.
