THE MUSIC lovers were enthralled with the showers of different ragas, classical dance and harmonious ripples of instruments at Sankat Mochan Temple on the third day of the five-day long Sankat Mochan Music Conclave on Wednesday night. The programme began at 7.30 pm on Wednesday and continued till wee hours on Thursday.

Eminent classical singers, Sunanada Patnayak and Pt Channulal Mishra enthralled the audience with their impressive vocal recital.
Sunanda Patnayak started her vocal recital with raga ‘Neel-Madhav’ and presented a bandish, ‘Ram Gaye Banwas’, and Drut gat in the same raga which was composed in Vilambit Ek taal and Teen taal, respectively. She concluded this raga by presenting a Tarana.80-year-old Sunanda captivated the audience by presenting a self-composed song, ‘Mai To Jhumo Mori Man Agan Mai’. She satisfied the demand of audience by presenting a bhajan, ‘Khilauna Mati Ka’. She was accompanied by Vishwajeet Pal on Tabla, Santosh Mishra on Sarangi, Pt Dinkar Sharma on Harmonium and Shrawanti Mukherjee on Tanpura.
After this, noted classical singer Channu Lal Mishra engrossed the audience with his meticulous performance.
He presented two bandish in the raga ‘Hans Dhwani’, which was composed in Jhap taal and Teen taal, respectively. He presented a thumri, ‘Byakul Bhai Brajbham Bansuri Ab Na Bajao Shyam’, in Mishr Khamaj.
Pt Mishra mesmerised the audience by presenting a Chaiti, “Ahi Thaiya Motiya Hera Gayele Ho Rama Kaha Main Dhundhu”. Later he presented a bhajan of Lord Hanumana, “Jai Hanuman Pawan Kumar’ and another bhajan, “Jake Gati Hanuman Ki” in raga “Yaman’. Besides this, Pt Mishra presented Kewat-Samvad and Ramdhun.
Earlier, the programme started with a Kathak dance performance of Swati Modi Tiwari. She started her dance items on Ganesh Vandana and later performed her dance item on Shankar Paran.
Her performance was quite appreciated by the audience.
Eminent Sarod player Vishwajeet Roy Chaudhary presented raga “Kaushi Kahara” comprising ‘Alap’, ‘Jod’ and ‘Jhala’.
