Another deadline has passed but only 30 pc of the schools in the State Capital have yet to furnish verified details about the teacher to attend invigilation duty.
So, is it just to see mass copying ritual go on in examination centres with ‘unverified’ invigilators?
District Inspector of School Vikas Sriavstava confirms that till date only 70 pc of the schools have furnished details. The department is scrutinising them thoroughly before issuing an identity card to the teachers for the invigilation work. Education Department reckons that this would help keep fake invigilators from taking the invigilation work.
The exercise of issuing I-cards would commence from this week and the schools may collect the same from the DIOS office. Srivastava warns that those schools who have not yet responded to their call will certainly feel the heat. Stern action will be initiated against them, including non-cooperation for the examinations, he said.
“Those schools which have not completed the formalities, the Education Department would keep a special vigil on them. We’re in the process of identifying and issuing show cause notice to them,” says Srivatava. It has further been learnt that some schools have pleaded for more time and promised to furnish information about their teachers shortly.
It was for the first time that the UP Board had resolved to keep fake invigilators away from examination so as to uphold the sanctity of the examination. It was only on the insistence of the District Magistrate, the department has initiated this task of issuing identity cards to those who would be assigned the invigilation job.
Last year a number of fake invigilators were held who were caught red handed while facilitating the examinees during the examination. Many of them were even help solving answers for the students. All these prompted the Education Department officials to issue identity card to the invigilators.
