Sealing of shops to continue: SC
The apex court asked the Committee monitoring the process to look into a government plea for relief of violators.india Updated: Apr 28, 2006 20:40 IST
The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stop the sealing of unauthorised commercial premises in residential areas.
At the same time, the apex court asked the Committee monitoring the process to look into a government plea for relief for violators in some areas.
A bench headed by Chief Justice YK Sabharwal sought a report from the monitoring committee by May 4 in this regard.
It said this should not be construed to mean that the sealing should stop and the sealing should go on.
The court allowed the government to place detailed report of the monitoring committee and explain the areas where relief is being sought.
